Commissions

Please contact me if interested in a custom-made fused glass picture or a fused glass plate. The following are price estimates for fused glass pictures:
  • 12" x 12" picture with lots of relief and detail, framed in metal: $200

  • 12" x 16" picture or similar size framed in metal: $250

  • 17" x 20" picture or similar size framed in metal: $350 - $400

  • 8" x 11” (approx) photo transfer onto glass of electron micrograph or other photo with color embellishment using glass powders and gold leaf, and framed for wall hanging: $100 - $150
Larger fused glass pictures can be made on request. This requires either several soldered pieces integrated with leading or the rental of larger kiln space if a single glass panel is to be produced. Shipping and NC sales tax (if sold in North Carolina) will be added to the price.

Scientific Glass Commissions

To scientists who would like to see their research preserved in a fused glass picture, I can reproduce an electron micrograph or photomicrograph on glass and create a glass picture of your image. It can be somewhat realistic as the EM image of isolated alveolar type II cells from my former research that I colorized with gold leaf and green glass powder, or it can be more abstract like this fused glass picture of mitochondria.

Example of a Commissioned Leaded Window

This large fused glass picture of a spider-web was made to fit into a client's octagonal window. Nine separate glass panels were constructed using a variety of glass, including iridescent glass for the background, dichroic glass for the bugs, and melted glass stringers for the web. After the panels were individually fused and annealed in the kiln, the pieces were fit together and assembled with lead caming. The picture was then soldered and framed in metal.

Example of a Commissioned Bathroom Window

This custom aquarium picture was commissioned as a privacy window between a client's bathroom and bedroom. It was created out of three separate fused glass panels assembled with lead caming along the seams. The panels were designed to be seen from both sides, and have a different appearance on the front versus the back (depending on whether the piece is viewed from the bathroom or the bedroom).
